Sameera joined the Gardiner Family Chiropractic and Wellness Team in 2018. She is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from York University and a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Prior to opening up her private practice in Grimsby, Sameera worked with children, youth and families providing therapy at Pathstone Mental Health in St. Catharines.
Sameera works with children, adolescents and adults who experience significant distress in their daily life and/or are living with mental illness. She supports clients with gaining insight into their life experiences and foster growth and change in a healthy, meaningful way.
Sameera is integrative in her therapeutic approach, combining different tools and techniques tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. She practices from a trauma-informed lens and draws from several types of therapy including: cognitive behavioural (CBT), dialectical behaviour (DBT), acceptance and commitment (ACT), person-centered, narrative, attachment-based, motivational, mindfulness-based and strength-based.
Sameera's therapeutic style is warm, collaborative and affirming. She provides culturally sensitive services in an environment that is respectful, anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory.
