Special
Interest
Our oldest patient to get adjusted this month
was 90-year-old Laura, born 1918, the year the first frozen food
was invented! Laura gets checked about every 6 weeks to keep her
mobile and as healthy as possible. Our youngest patient was baby
Madison who was checked when she was 5 days old!
You
are all winners!
Thank you to everyone who participated in
our Valentines writing contest. Here are a few lines from the winning
poems:
“She’s very busy running back and forth to help us all.
She looks at x-rays, examines patients, and replies to every call.
She keeps us healthy-even my dog, who got hit by a car. By the way
he is fine now, running all over the yard.” a poem by Lou
P.
“If you love being kind to your body, it should be automatic!
Be adjusted and aligned as a patient of chiropractic. The office
atmosphere is like none around, once you are aligned your health
changes will be profound.” poem by Ron K.
Spring Gardening Tips and tidbits
Inactivity during the winter leads to shortening
of your big back and leg muscles. Before you start, warm up your
muscles. Have the right tools for the task. Ensure you drink plenty
of fluids. Alternate between light and heavy jobs. Lift correctly.
Take frequent breaks. Heavy loads and jobs should be shared. Kneel
to plant and weed. There is a great store in Burlington called Lee
Valley Tools that has wonderful tools and gardening supplies like
stools and kneepads. Check it out at www.leevalley.com Regular adjustments
during the spring will keep you limber and minimize back injury
and fatigue.
Have a great gardening season!
Spring
Allergies
Do you know of anyone who suffers from spring
allergies? Suggest a chiropractic evaluation.
Adjustments have been proven to suppress the severity of allergic
reactions by improving the function of the immune system. Dr. Amber
also recommends a high dose of vitamin C daily and to avoid dangerous
over the counter allergy medications. We have several patients who
schedule more frequent adjustments during this time of year to help
reduce their head congestion, sneezing, and headaches.
WHAT
THE????
What is that cracking noise?
It is common, but not necessary to hear a cracking noise during
the adjustment. This is called cavitation and it is the release
of gases such as carbon dioxide and nitrogen from the joint space.
Out of the mouths of babes…Ethan, 5yrs old, says to his mom
while leaving school “Mommy, did you know that this weekend
Jesus comes back to life?” Mommy replies, “ Yes Ethan,
this weekend is Easter.” Ethan smiles and says, “ I
can’t wait to meet him!”
March
is the month of the child at GFC!
Providing chiropractic care to kids has given me some of
my most meaningful and rewarding experiences as a doctor. Children
respond rapidly to chiropractic care because their bodies have not
been submitted to decades of stress and strain. Recently some of
our newest children patients have been helped with conditions such
as knee pain, breathing difficulties, sleep disturbances, poor immunity
and bed-wetting.
I have noticed a trend in our young patients and that is the dramatic
increase in childhood weight problems. Parents must be the first
defense and take an active role in their child’s diet and
exercise. Teach good nutrition and healthy snacking at home. Teach
portion control. Emphasize that exercise is not an option. Point
out the benefits of healthy eating and exercise. Limit computer
and TV time and get them outside playing.
